The lives of five different women intersect and unite through the power and healing and yoga. Lee is the guru of her modest but awe-inspiring yoga studio. While she appears to be the fountain of infinite knowledge and wisdom, her life is seriously riddled with the momentous occurrences that seem to plague today’s modern gal. Add to the mix the spritely, but powerful characters of Katherine, Graciela, Imani, and Stephanie, and you have a team as equally diverse as they are complex, and somehow these gals unite together to come through for their mentor in her time of need.

Ms. Mitchell’s story is sensitive and caring. Told in its present tense multiple point-of-view it gives the tale a refreshing take, shedding light on life’s sometimes all-too-common complexities and heartaches. Yes, romance (and sometimes lack thereof) makes up part of that equation. But more than the individual traumas and character foibles, it is the power of friendship and grit of determination that make the story an exuberant and refreshing read. The best descriptor for this book is like catching that small ray of sun trying to break through from an incredibly long, gray, and steely sky. It gives you pause to look up and smile for the hope of a better day.
